The Bar at Cherry Street Pier
121 N Columbus Ave., Philadelphia
July 2024
When the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation presented me with the opportunity to paint a mural on the shipping container-turned bar at Cherry Street Pier, I was so excited to contribute my work to this venue as it holds major personal meaning and significance to me. Since I had spent a lot of time (like, weeks) painting for two Tiny Room For Elephants Mural Festivals in years past, this felt like a big full-circle moment. After presenting several color palette options, the client chose one that featured a rich teal blue base, inspired by the river’s waters. I loved that the colors not only reflected the environment but also really helped to anchor the mural in its surroundings. I enjoyed creating this mural here so much, and will truly treasure the memories I have of the dream weather I painted in, and all the wonderfully friendly staff and patrons that showed their support and kindness throughout its process.
